Asia University Rankings 2019

The Times 黑料吃瓜网?Asia University Rankings 2019 use the same 13 performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings, but they are recalibrated to reflect the attributes of Asia’s institutions.

The universities are judged across all their core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook – to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available.

China is home to the continent’s best university for the first time as Tsinghua University overtakes the National University of Singapore, while Japan is once again the most-represented nation in the list, boasting 103 institutions, up from 89 last year.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology now leads the Special Administrative Region of China for the first time, replacing the University of Hong Kong.

Elsewhere, national flagship universities in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines all rise. The University of Malaya, for instance, makes its debut in the top 40, climbing eight places to joint 38th, while the University of Indonesia is now ranked 133rd, up from the 201-250 band.

The performance of institutions in India and Taiwan has been mixed, with significant rises and falls for individual institutions.

This year’s table ranks more than 400 universities, up from just over 350 last year. These universities come from 27 countries/regions.
