Senior figures from Australian higher education discuss the changes announced in May's budget

The recent Australian federal Budget announced lower income thresholds for repaying student debt and a 7.5 per cent increase in tuition fees.

At a Policy Pitch event held at the State Library, Victoria, on Wednesday 6 June 2017, senior higher education figures in Australia held an event to discuss the implications of the changes.

Taking part are: Glyn Davis, vice-chancellor of the University of Melbourne; Sophie Johnston, president of the National Union of Students; and Andrew Norton, higher education programme director at the Grattan Institute. The discussion is chaired by broadcaster Jim Middleton.
